Sara

I'm super excited to share these photos! I met up with some photography pals for some just-for-fun shooting.  Sara was our model; she's the daughter of one of the photographers in our group. She did a fantastic job! I can imagine it must have been a pretty surreal experience to have five women all taking photos of you at the same time, but she totally rocked it.  Between the five of us, she's going to have tons of great photos!

We met up in the Arts District in Las Vegas and found a really neat little spot to take pictures at. It was a mostly urban environment, which was a totally new shooting environment for me, but we did discover this little hidden garden among the buildings, and that's where we started, before moving out to the street.

I'm so happy I got to join up with these ladies again!  It seems like I hardly ever get to change up my scene or go out of my comfort level a little, or heck, even just get to play!  There was zero pressure here because it was just for fun, and I ended up really thrilled with the results.

Thank you again Sara for modeling for us, and thanks to Carol for getting us all together! I hope we can do it again soon.

In-home Maternity

Friday, October 16, 2015

I got to take some maternity photos for a friend of mine recently. In the past, I've always taken them at a park, but it's still pretty hot outside here in Vegas, and she understandably wasn't feeling up to that, so we ended up deciding to just take them in her home. So this was my first try at taking indoor maternity photos.

I didn't get exactly what I had pictured, but then again, I rarely do! ;)  But we did get some cute shots. Of course, it's hard to take a bad photo when you look as good as she does.  And her daughter...could she be any cuter?

Here are a few favorites.

I think that baby will be making his or her entrance very soon. :)
Thanks for looking!

Momtographer

Saturday, May 9, 2015

Being Mother's Day, it seems like a good time to post these photos!

So quite a while back my friend Louella and I started kicking around the idea of doing this "Momtographer" shoot. The idea was basically that photography with your kids in tow can sometimes feel a bit like going into combat (not really, of course, but it can be stressful!)   I had this picture in my mind of us in the woods dressed in camo and war paint, loaded up with all our photography gear with our kids strapped to our backs.

I didn't think it was ever going to happen, but we finally got around to attempting it!  We went out to Mt. Charleston, the only place I know of around here with woods (or as close to woods as you get here!)  I took her pictures and she took mine.

Since I had a lot going on and company visiting at the time,  I wasn't quite prepared for the shoot...so I didn't really get exactly what I had envisioned.  But we still got some pretty cute shots and it was a lot of fun!  And I learned that no, I can not carry around my 3 year old in a backpack carrier.  ;)  Ouchie!

Below are photos I took of my friend and her little boy, followed by some of her pics of me.

And here's some of Ariel and I, taken by my friend Louella Ruth Taylor! You can find more of her work here here. Don't mind my child's crazy hair, it was quite windy!

More Cuties

Wednesday, October 15, 2014

My friend and I got together to take some photos of some super cute kids she knows through a playgroup.
It was very interesting to see how different our pictures came out, even though it was the same subject at the same time.  Everybody really does have their own style!   Her photos are warm and colorful while I tend to go with more cooler tones.

The location wasn't ideal, but we made the most of it! And the kids were so good! A 6 month old girl and a 3 year old boy.  I tell you what, that little boy was far more cooperative then my own almost 3 year old is for pictures! :)

A day in the life...

Tuesday, May 6, 2014

...of me!

I've been wanting to do a "day in the life" creativity exercise for a while, but just hadn't gotten around to it. I don't know what made me finally decide to do it, but I did! On my birthday, even.  But also on a day when I had nothing to do but hang around the house all day.   I had a hard time finding interesting things to shoot throughout the day...I really wanted to find ways to make the mundane look artsy but didn't have much luck, guess I just wasn't feeling very creative.   So its mostly just photos of my daughter playing throughout the day!  Hey, at least the Grandmas will be happy! ;)  I suppose I'll try again sometime. Maybe on a day when I actually have interesting things to do!  ;)

I put the camera on my nightstand when I went to bed so I could start shooting as soon as I woke up.

"Wake up, human."

Shower with an audience.

My shower snooper ended up joining me.

Since I was trying to find things to shoot, I figured I'd attempt some selfies, and for once I actually managed to take some that were in focus!

 Editing pictures...always editing pictures.

Dingo! Wishing I would put down the camera and take him out.

Helping herself to my slice of Birthday pie.

Fighting the endless battle against dirt.

No day is complete without a tantrum!

Then Daddy got home from his TDY!

She loaded up the couch with all her stuffed animals. She had them all sitting there like they were watching TV.

One last story before bed.
